Tasty Licks Summer Treats

Pedro the Lion - A Mind of Her OwnI always thought "Winners Never Quit" would lend itself well to visual adaptation--maybe a short film or even a play--because the story's there, and it just needs to be fleshed out a little bit. This song especially, and the one after it (Never Leave A Job Half Done), would make for terrifying and absorbing scenes, full as they are of emotional and physical violence. David Bazan does a nice job with the dynamics of this kind of argument, sounding both calmly condescending at the beginning of the song and totally hysterical by the end. The guitar at the very end of this seems to mimic the off-hook tone of a telephone, which, if you listen to what's happening in this song, is pretty fucking creepy.[Buy Winners Never Quit]
